People in glowfic are always improbably ready to believe "oh, ok, parallel universes and magic are real, good to know", feels like. I mean obviously it's not particularly interesting to have an extended "oops guess I'm experiencing hallucinations" or "and then the government completely refused to pay any attention to the guy claiming to be a magic alien and wanting to give them advanced technology" sequence every time when you can have Actual Plot instead, I'm not saying they should change that. And maybe my reactions are nonstandard and most people would totally be on board with extradimensional visitors and stuff immediately, I am in fact more sceptical of Weird Shit than the average human. just, y'know, a thought I have.
