People in glowfic are always improbably ready to believe "oh, ok, parallel universes and magic are real, good to know", feels like. I mean obviously it's not particularly interesting to have an extended "oops guess I'm experiencing hallucinations" or "and then the government completely refused to pay any attention to the guy claiming to be a magic alien and wanting to give them advanced technology" sequence every time when you can have Actual Plot instead, I'm not saying they should change that. And maybe my reactions are nonstandard and most people would totally be on board with extradimensional visitors and stuff immediately, I am in fact more sceptical of Weird Shit than the average human. just, y'know, a thought I have.

I feel like the sort of nonstandard-ness of reaction that leads to your (and my) unusual levels of skepticism is a sort also possessed by many glowfic characters, though, when it comes to contexts other than believing-the-thread-premise-is-true. I think believing that part is mostly just a genre convention (skipping over the less-interesting-to-do-over-and-over stuff, as you said), rather than fully accurate to how the characters would respond absent that convention (which would likely involve a lot more laborious demonstration that their out-of-world magic exists).

I had seen the same point as you, and had kinda ... folded it into the set of personality traits that Glowfic protagonists have that makes them deviate substantially from both typical humans and their canon selves; a kind of "taking ideas seriously" field where people are willing to take incredibly weird stuff seriously on only moderate evidence. (But yes this seems clearly to be the case because the alternative gets tedious after a while - lots of glowfic seems to be written from the consideration of what will and won't get tedious ~~if~~ when it happens in ten threads, it's one of the reasons it's so high-context I think)
