literally every time I look at the Janus playbook for Masks I can't help but think about how improbably good a fit it is for Skitter. it's weird

... is it possible the creator of the playbook has read worm? (I say with only passing masks familiarity, but it's recent enough as a game they could have just ... used a popular modern superhero thing as inspiration for their game?)

It's certainly possible! The timeline checks out and the post I linked argues it's a deliberate homage.

The thing is, Masks has an explicit list of what characters influenced each playbook and Skitter is not listed for the Janus. It could still be an influence that wasn't listed for some reason, maybe because most of the listed influences are more traditional comic books and tv shows and a webserial would be less expected to be familiar?

Or it could be a coincidence! I don't know.

yeah, my other hypothesis is "turns out if you look at Spider-man sideways it's easier than you'd think to end up with Skitter"
