has anyone in real life ever said 'let me get this straight' and proceeded to summarise the last few minutes of conversation, optionally with humorous emphasis on the more outlandish aspects of what said conversation revealed?

Yes, happens on a regular basis (maybe not with that exact phrasing) at my club, which is prone to highly outlandish high-context conversations.

(It probably matters that the conversations are both high-context and happen while waiting for everyone to arrive, so summaries, recaps, explanations and requests for clarification are all important)
