the paradox of reading fiction i like is that if i keep reading at some point it will end, and that's bad, but if i don't ever finish then I won't know the whole story, and that's also bad

Except! You can re-read the story as many times as you want, which is good. :)

re-reading is good and all, but it's often not quite the same as a first read.

and i certainly can't re-read something just as I finished it for the first time, which is exactly the moment where i most want things like it!

That is true. :/ If it's from a series, though, you have the next book to look forward to.
