Often, out of convenience, I like to use search engines as calculators, because like I am already using an internet browser and I have the search bar right there, so why not. This became less convenient a little bit ago when ddg stopped providing the answer to simple arithmetic in the little drop down thing with the search suggestions, which means i have to actually open a tab with the search for it to work. not ideal!

Today I found another complication: search engines refuse to interpret a straightforward request for nine divided by eleven as an arithmetic operation! google and ddg will not pop their little calculator app at the top of the search page, and even wolfram alpha needs me to specify I am talking about math before giving the answer. What else could the string "9/11" possibly refer to, I ask you
