Aug. 4th, 2019 02:59 pmThere are some studies about the average number of sexual partners, the typical results are that sexually active gay men in their 30s or 40s have had several dozen partners, while the average for straight men is closer to 10. The average for women is closer to 10 but they may be lying. And it’s lower for lesbians than for straight women.
...why would you assume the women may be lying, but not the men?
i don't want to bang on this drum again but the average number of sexual partners for straight men and straight women is the same! that is the expected result!
(with possible variations in the number being caused by: differences in the rate of straight people having sex with non-straight people, straight people having same-sex partners, total numbers of men and women in the population being different, asymmetric definitions of sex where it's possible I'm having sex with you but you are not having sex with me. these things are not impossible but I don't see any obvious argument for why they'd be strong enough to bias the numbers in the correct directions to make 'straight women are lying' a priori likely.)
