markdown on dreamwidth

if you're using the HTML editor and the first line is !markdown, you can, well, use markdown for formatting. Also, since i've seen these around and was unsure how you do them:

@sigmaleph shows as sigmaleph

@sigmaleph.tumblr.com shows as sigmaleph

(and on HTML apparently those are @sigmaleph and @sigmaleph.tumblr.com )

oh, huh, i think this would also work for linking to masto accounts

edit: the user tag one i mean (idk if there's a way to do it with the markdown syntax).

if i try the html with site=chitter.xyz, it tries to link to www.chitter.xyz/users/sigmaleph, which *almost* works but the 'www' at the beginning breaks it. i don't know if you can make it stop adding it. it works for some instances, though, like mastodon.social

Is there a specific ActivityPub API for looking these things up? I feel like there should be, right?

I wonder if it would be possible to do a general ActivityPub way of doing it (maybe detecting for "is that an ActivityPub-using site" in the Unknown.pm file?
