unexpected downsides of changing your name: every few months, you come across a name that makes you go "oh gosh that's amazing, maybe I should have picked that one instead..."
What kind of names do you feel are so amazing? I'll admit I am quite happy with my own name, despite it's painful commonness (literally 10% of my year level at high school had the same name as me!), so I don't really have a module like that running.
The last two names I went 'hmmm maybe that's me...?' for were Iris and Selene. I don't think they would have won but they would have definitely been on the list I considered while picking a middle name.
I've actually never felt that way! I had been using my current name for a few months before legally changing it and it just... fits. I would never consider changing it again, it feels like it represents *me* on a deep level. There are other names that I think are nice, but no other name that could be *mine*.
I am quite happy with my chosen first name and can't imagine having a different one but my middle name was internally debated A Lot (I didn't get one at birth, so even 'should I have a middle name at all?' was part of the question). All the names I've thought were good would have been middle name candidates.
