the delivery service i use for groceries keeps telling me about how my deliveryperson arrived before the time for which i scheduled my order, and this is desirable behaviour i should reward with a bigger tip.

it isn't! stop doing that! arriving early isn't super extra double punctuality, it's still arriving at the wrong time. sometimes i am not home (...rarely, lately, but they don't know that). sometimes i am doing things i would rather not interrupt to answer the door, and i would like to be able to schedule around them. a delivery service that arrives earlier than established is not doing me a favour, it's giving me extra overhead to keep track of when scheduling deliveries.
